80-year-old Harris County man dies after being attacked in parking spot dispute

Following an apparent confrontation over a parking space at a Harris County grocery store last week, an 80-year-old who was seriously injured was declared dead.

Court filings state that on Friday, Anthony Ray Boyce, 57, and Earl Hollins, 80, argued verbally about a parking space in the 1400 block of Cypress Parkway. During the altercation, Boyce allegedly hit Hollins, a veteran of the military.

As a result, Hollins sustained brain damage and was taken to a hospital, where he eventually passed away from his wounds.

Boyce was taken into custody on Saturday and accused of serious bodily injury and aggravated assault.

In order to elevate the accusations to murder, detectives are now getting the case ready for a grand jury review.

At the moment, Boyce is being held on a $200,000 bond.
