Shots fired outside Walmart in Katy by disgruntled former employee, police say

On Monday afternoon, there were reports of gunfire from a disgruntled former employee in the Katy Walmart parking lot.

The former employee allegedly returned to the business on Morton Ranch Road near the Grand Parkway west of Houston, was led out, and then fired bullets in the direction of the interstate, according to preliminary information provided by Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.

After the incident, Gonzalez posted on social media that there was no more threat in the region.

There had been no reports of injuries, Gonzalez noted. Gonzalez claims that after leaving the Walmart, the alleged shooter was later taken into custody.

Gonzalez praised our District 4 patrol deputies for their excellent response, saturating the area, and swiftly identifying and capturing the potential culprit.

The story is still evolving.
