The Kentucky Cabinet for Health and Family Services (CHFS) has awarded Assistant Campbell County Attorney Michelle Eviston the title of John R. Fendley Child Support Attorney of the Year. First honored in 2018, Eviston is the first lawyer to ever win this coveted prize twice. She stands out as a leader in the profession because of her dedication to Campbell County families and her unwavering proficiency in child support enforcement.
After receiving this honor once, most people might have relaxed, but not Michelle, according to Judge/Executive Steve Pendery of Campbell County. She has remained committed and creative in her work, always coming up with fresh ideas to enhance child support enforcement while making sure kids get the help they require.
Attorneys who handle child support matters with exceptional advocacy, service, and efficacy are recognized with the John R. Fendley Child Support Attorney of the Year award. Among the roughly 400 child support lawyers in the state, Eviston’s influence is notable due to both her legal expertise and her dedication to providing children with financial stability. Additionally, she is the only lawyer to get this honor twice.
As a child support lawyer in Campbell County since 2015, Eviston helps the Campbell County Family Court collect child support obligations and secure paternity and child support orders. Eviston’s job goes beyond law enforcement; she has a strong commitment to community involvement and enhancing Campbell County families’ quality of life.
Although it is an honor to be given this award once more, Eviston stated that the work we perform on a daily basis that truly improves the lives of children and families in our area is what really counts. It is not only a legal obligation to provide children with financial stability; it is also about laying the groundwork for a successful and happy future.
Steven Franzen, the Campbell County Attorney, is in charge of running the Campbell County Child Support Office. The Office ensures that custodial parents receive the money they need to care for their children by processing about 5,000 open cases annually. Every year, the Office receives about $6.2 million. To help parents and guardians collect their child support obligations, the Campbell County Child Support Office employs a capable staff of caseworkers. The Office has improved the effectiveness and efficiency of child support enforcement by streamlining procedures and encouraging a team-oriented approach.
“When we enforce child support, we are helping families avoid financial hardship,” said Campbell County Attorney Steven Franzen. In addition to helping the children and custodial parents, Michelle’s commitment to this goal guarantees that taxpayers won’t be left to foot the bill. Her efforts are essential to the prosperity of our community.
Public service has long captivated Eviston, a 2011 graduate of Northern Kentucky University’s Salmon P. Chase Law School. She views her work as a means of contributing to the community and having a significant influence.
