On Thursday at Scott High School, Campbell County defeated Brossart 81-39 to capture the 37th District boys basketball championship trophy for the 12th year in a row.
After taking a 19β6 lead in the first quarter, the Camels (22β9) continued to pull away. Eleven players were in the scoring column in the end. Senior guard Garyn Jackson led the squad, scoring 19 of his 26 points in the first half.
Other double-figure scorers for Campbell County included junior forward Lucas Anthrop with 10 points and senior guard Xavier Fancher with 13. Fancher has made three 3-pointers in the last three quarters.
For the first time since 2022, Brossart (15β15) advanced to the district final, however the Mustangs lost to the Camels with their second-lowest point total of the year. Parker Mulberry, a senior, was the only player to score in double figures with 12 points.
The boys 10th Region tournament at Harrison County High School next week will feature both district finalists. The first-round pairings will be decided by a draw on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. Campbell County advanced to the state tournament quarterfinals after winning the area title the previous year.

Caroline Eaglin, a senior guard for NewCath, led the team in scoring with 24 points. With 3:00 remaining in the game, she made a runner in the lane that reduced Highlands’ lead to 53-50, but the Thoroughbreds were unable to score again.
