Big list of Burlington Dems back Sweeney

Today, a number of elected officials and party leaders, including four mayors and four countywide officeholders, endorsed former Senate President Steve Sweeney, who faces a fierce Democratic convention in Burlington County on Saturday.

County Commissioners Felicia Hopson and Tyler Burrell, Sheriff James Kostoplis, and County Clerk Joanne Schwartz all declared their support for Sweeney. They join Assemblywomen Andrea Katz (D-Chesterfield) and Carol Murphy (D-Mount Laurel), State Sen. Troy Singleton (D-Delran), and Rep. Herb Conaway, Jr. (D-Moorestown).

The following people are also joining as Sweeney for Governor supporters: former Mayor Richard Horton (Maple Shade), Councilman Odie Carr (Westampton), Council President Thomas Lyon and former Mayor Gary Catrambone (Delran), former County Chairman Gary Karr, former Burlington County Federation of Democratic Women President Nancy Youngkin, Democratic Municipal Chair Rames Jayaram and Councilman John Fratinardo (Florence), Mayor Jaclyn Veasy, Deputy Mayor Krystal Hunter, Councilmembers Christian Smith, and Heather Cooper (Evesham); Mayor Heather Talarico, Deputy Mayor John Zahradnik, and former Mayor Rob Wells (Maple Shade); and former Mayor Richard Haman, Deputy Mayor Christopher Marter, and former Mayor Richard Horton (Riverside).

Additionally, Sweeney has the support of the South Jersey Building and Construction Trades Council, the whole township council, and Mayor Nikita Moustakas of Mount Laurel.

It is a privilege for me to have the support of these outstanding Burlington County Democrats. This is really meaningful to me personally since I grew up in Pennsauken, which is adjacent to Burlington County, Sweeney added. I don’t need a map to identify Burlington County since I’m the only South Jersey candidate running, and I’ll make sure Burlington’s leaders are always represented at the Trenton table.
