Conroe ISD teacher reportedly on leave after not allowing students to use restroom

According to reports, a Conroe ISD teacher is on leave while the Houston-area school system looks into claims that the instructor prevented several primary pupils from using the lavatory, which led to some of them peeing on themselves.

The alleged event happened on Wednesday at Bartlett Elementary, according to an email that was first distributed to school parents and then shared with Houston media sites. Two pupils are alleged to have soiled themselves after the unnamed first-grade teacher denied them access to the lavatory.

The email from Bartlett Elementary Principal Charita Smith stated, “This afternoon, we were made aware of a situation in a first-grade classroom in which restroom privileges were revoked,” as reported by several news outlets. “I’ve had conversations with the parents of the two students who tragically suffered injuries. While we finish our investigation into the situation, an existing employee will be the class’s replacement instructor for the rest of the week. The secure and caring atmosphere we promote at Bartlett Elementary is not reflected in this occurrence. I appreciate your help and ongoing collaboration.

An email requesting comment on Friday was not immediately answered by a Conroe ISD representative.

The teacher in question restricted restroom access as a punishment for the class restroom permit being lost, according to the Houston Chronicle, which quoted the story of a Bartlett parent. The instructor then apologized via text message to the parents of some of the students for the event.

As reported by the Chronicle, “Unfortunately, we had some friends who really needed to use the restroom and ended up peeing on themselves,” the text message stated. I sincerely regret that event. Please talk to the pupils about that as well. I spoke to them about how important it is to use our belongings properly. Because I am confident that they will comprehend the rules more fully if we both assist them in doing so.
