The Texas Parks and Wildlife Commission has given more than $3.4 million to a number of parks in the Houston region to “create and enhance outdoor recreation.”
The funds given to parks in the Houston region are a component of the Parks and Wildlife Commission’s overall $30.9 million grant program. The committee stated that in order for the awards to be awarded, the participating sites must continue to be public park land for all time. Grants were given to 50 community parks in all, and the money will be utilized for a range of upgrades, such as playgrounds, splash pads, sports fields, trails, landscaping, piers, kayak launches, and sports fields.
