Police found a 36-year-old guy last week after he was hospitalized to a nearby hospital. Officials have called him a poster child for sexual offenders after he vanished before his 2023 trial, which would have resulted in a 75-year sentence.
Thaddeus Allen was charged with forcing prostitution by force and trafficking, however he did not show up for closing arguments on April 18, 2023. The jury was nonetheless able to deliberate in spite of his absence and found him guilty, giving him a sentence of 75 years in jail.
Investigators were concerned about Allen in 2018 after he brought a woman into a hospital in Houston, refused to let her speak to professionals, and refused to leave the room. The woman claimed to have met Allen on social networking, according to the authorities.
According to a sheriff’s office email, the Harris County Sheriff’s Office Violent Criminal Apprehension Team was assigned to find and capture Thaddeus Allen on the night that Allen did not show up for his trial. Over the next few months, investigators searched Allen thoroughly. Numerous media sites covered him, and although there were a number of tips, none of them resulted in his arrest.
In 2023, Allen was the focus of a nearly 20-minute press conference during which law enforcement officials urged people to exercise caution when interacting with people on social media and offered a $15,000 reward for information that led to his arrest.
During that news conference, Andy Kahan, Director of Victim Services for Crime Stoppers Houston, stated that he had not been seen since he skipped court.
On December 18 of last year, investigators got a tip that put Allen in the Houston region once more. Although there was little information available, investigators were nevertheless able to monitor the area in question.
On January 6, the tipster provided more information to the police.
Police were able to locate an apartment complex in north Harris County thanks to the information. Investigators were informed by Allen’s neighbors that he had been taken to a nearby hospital. After allegedly overdosing on PCP and methamphetamine, he was sent to another hospital in severe condition and admitted on December 31, according to officials.
According to the sheriff’s office, Allen was admitted to the hospital using a false identity. However, his fingerprints allowed investigators to confirm his identity.
After being medically released from the hospital, Allen will be placed into the Harris County Jail to complete his sentence.
