Major N.J. environmental group backs Sherrill for Governor

The New Jersey League of Conservation Voters today nominated Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-Montclair) for the Democratic nomination for governor, praising her efforts on environmental and climate energy concerns.

According to Ed Potosnak, executive director of the New Jersey LCV, she is by far the best candidate to provide bold environmental policy leadership that will be essential in combating the climate crisis, reducing energy costs, and safeguarding our environment and every New Jersey family’s right to drink clean water and breathe clean air.

According to Potosnak, Sherrill has defended working families in the state from dishonest oil and gas executives.

According to Potosnak, she has the capacity to bring people from all walks of life in New Jersey together around a common goal of a better and more prosperous future for everybody.

If elected governor, Sherril promised to make substantial investments to restore our grid and move toward sustainable energy.

She clarified that in addition to producing emission-free energy sources and well-paying jobs of the future, it will also increase price stability for families. In New Jersey, we must forge a new course as Elon Musk and President Trump attempt to undo our efforts to address climate change. Regardless of their ZIP code, I will work every day to lower energy prices, provide infrastructure that is flood-resilient, preserve our open spaces, and ensure that all of our children have access to clean air and water.

Randy Jones, the head of the LCV board, stated that Sherrill has taken the lead on matters such as PFAS eradication, flood risk management, and sanitation.

According to Jones, Congresswoman Sherrill has gained the complete trust of New Jersey LCV. For many years to come, Congresswoman Sherrill will be a superb governor of New Jersey, safeguarding our environment and public health.
