METRO police arrest man who fired pistol inside bus in southwest Houston Wednesday

According to reports, a man in his 80s was taken into custody by METRO police after he allegedly opened fire inside a bus in southwest Houston on Wednesday morning.

METRO officers Department Chief Ban Tien told reporters Wednesday that officers had responded to a call from a bus driver who reported a disturbance with a weapon at around 7:30 a.m.

Inside the bus, the man allegedly fired a single shot from a revolver.

According to Tien, the bus operator promptly opened the door to let all of the passengers to exit, and there were no reported injuries in the event.

Whether the man had engaged in a verbal or physical dispute prior to firing the pistol was not immediately apparent.

Sometimes things just happen, but knowing how to report them effectively is crucial, Tien added.

Passengers using METRO can report suspicious activities by dialing 911 or 713-224-2677.

According to Tien, many people are traveling, particularly during the holidays. First and foremost, exercise patience and get where you need to go. The second is that there is no justification for turning any circumstance into a violent one. In the event of an emergency or if you require our assistance, dial 911. Otherwise, give the number I just posted a call.
