This week, Justin Musella, a Parsippany councilman running for the GOP’s mayoral nomination, claimed to have raised more than $100,000 at an event hosted by Middletown Mayor Tony Perry.
Jigar Shah and Councilman Frank Neglia joined Republican incumbent James Barberio in the race. Musella, running for re-election to the council on the Barbero slate, had turned down a unity ticket offered by GOP leaders.Barberio was officially endorsed by Assemblymen Brian Beren (R-Denville) and Jay Webber (R-Morris Plains).
Hamilton (Atlantic)
Thelma Witherspoon began her campaign to be re-elected to the Hamilton Township Committee for a second term. She stated she will run with Yvette Soto, a former American Red Cross staffer who now owns a small business.
“I’ve had the great honor of serving the residents of Hamilton Township for the past three years,” Witherspoon stated. Yvette and I are eager to gain the support of the electorate in order to keep improving things for the people who live in our wonderful township.
After a judge determined that the Democrat county clerk had sent the incorrect ballots to certain voters, Witherspoon, a pastor and former member of the Atlantic City school board, lost her election as the freeholder of Atlantic County in 2020.
This year, Republican Mayor Carl Pitale is also running.
Commissioner for the Atlantic County
The pastor of Atlantic City’s Second Baptist Church, Rev. Collins Days, Sr., is running for the Democratic nomination as an Atlantic Commissioner. William Coursey, the incumbent, who declared he would not run for reelection, supports him.
“When I first came to preach here thirty years ago, I fell in love with this area,” Days said. Despite the fact that Atlantic County is a great area to live, many of our residents are having financial difficulties. I realized that the people of Absecon Island needed a strong champion like Ernest to help cut costs, improve our roads, and assist those in need when I learned that Commissioner Coursey was not running for reelection.
