According to officials, a U.S. Postal Service employee was shot and murdered by another employee at a Missouri City facility late Monday.
Around 10 p.m. on Monday, workers were evacuated from the business, which is situated on Highway 90 East outside of Houston.
Reporters at the scene were informed by USPS assistant inspector Dana Carter that someone had been taken into custody and that police had taken over the building right away following the gunshot.
According to Carter, this was a report of an active shooter. The fact that there was an active shooter incident has been verified. Unfortunately, this evening there was a tragic incident.
Police did not immediately identify the shooter or the victim of the incident.
According to Carter, the neighborhood is safe and that person is in custody.
