Gottheimer talks affordability in new ad

Gottheimer uses the opportunity to inform people that he worked for Bill Clinton at the White House in Over There. He then goes on to criticize Donald Trump for being unruly and ignoring concerns about affordability as the cost of eggs and other items rises. Gottheimer brags about his tax cut idea and his track record of solving problems.

My name is Josh Gottheimer. I worked here for President Clinton years ago, lowering taxes, generating jobs, and lowering the cost of healthcare. Right now, all President Trump is doing is creating havoc. In the meantime, costs are rising everywhere, and the price of eggs keeps rising. We can’t afford this, Jersey. In my role as governor, I will oppose Trump and reduce property taxes, renter costs, and elder taxation. Since I’m a problem solver, we can rely on me to finish the job and lower Jersey’s cost for you.

Gottheimer claims he can lower income taxes, provide renters an annual refund, lower property taxes by over 15%, and offer incentives to residents and prospective residents of New Jersey.

Gottheimer, a five-term congressman from Bergen County, served as a Senate Page during his high school years and as a part of Clinton’s re-election campaign quick response team during his undergraduate years. At the age of 23, he began working as a speechwriter for the White House in 1998 and stayed until January 2021, when Clinton stepped down.

In a district that Trump won, Gottheimer defeated seven-term Representative Scott Garrett (R-Wantage) in 2012.
