Food writers talk about some of their favorite new eateries that have opened in the last year in this month’s edition of The Full Menu.

We hear from David Leftwich of Edible Houston and Houston Food Finder, Felice Sloan of the Swanky Maven lifestyle site, and Eric Sandler of CultureMap Houston in the audio above.

Ema, a Mexican breakfast and lunch concept in The Heights, is David’s favorite new restaurant of the year.

In addition to praising one of his other favorite recent additions to the neighborhood dining scene—Baso, a live-fire restaurant in The Heights that lets diners see a roaring fire from its open kitchen—Eric concurred with David regarding Ema. According to Eric, you’ve done it incorrectly if you go and don’t get the grilled shrimp (seen above).

Felice also mentioned two eateries, Credence and Bar Bludorn, that are part of a slew of amazing new dining establishments that have opened in the Memorial and Spring Branch neighborhoods this year. Felice emphasized Credence’s elegance and the fact that, after supper, it transforms into a speakeasy. She also commended its deviled crab that was grilled. She mentioned how much she enjoyed the fried chicken and burger at Bar Bludorn.
