Extended Period After A Shocking Diagnosis, An Atlanta Police Officer Is Getting Ready For Significant Surgery

ATLANTA, Georgia (First News Atlanta) – Following a shocking diagnosis that nearly put an end to his career, a veteran Atlanta Police officer is getting ready for major surgery.

Senior Police Officer Brian Reid reported that he was diagnosed with cervical spinal stenosis after experiencing an unexpected numbness in his hands.

Speaking of the times he learned, “A ton of bricks wouldn’t do it justice, it came down like a weight.” “It is unfathomable to be informed that my career as a police officer is coming to an end.”

Reid has spent the last 26 years working as an APD officer. For the native of Atlanta, who has worked at the department with his brothers and nephew, it has been a dream since elementary school.

Serving their community in any manner they can is what serving means to them and their family.

Reid shook his head and added, “I had the chance to serve with some of the best men and women that wear the uniform and to come to a point where that would be essentially taken away from me.”

Reid, fortunately, stated that he will be able to recuperate from the procedure and return to his job. However, he is now requesting assistance from the same community that he has long served, if at all feasible.

He remarked, “It doesn’t matter who you are; if you have a health issue and you can still think, you owe it to yourself to really do your homework and conduct your own research.” “And begin investigating the finest care available for you.”

A GoFundMe page has been set up by Reid’s family to help with medical expenses.
